Blue Slipper presents ‘The Woolgatherer’ ~ running Oct 27-Nov 12, 2017

The Blue Slipper is pleased to present, “The Woolgatherer,” by William Mastrosimone.  Starring Michelle Zizian and Rich Valiant, Rebecca Ruhd directs this poignant drama.

One evening in Philadelphia, two lonely hearts reach out to each other. Rose is a candy counter clerk who’s had a rough haul, and Cliff is a truck driver with a sour taste in his mouth.  Rose is selling sweet dreams, and Cliff wants to deliver something real.  The evening becomes an interview in which Rose’s sensitivity and romance are challenged by Cliff’s rough-edged wit and practicality.  Their longing for love keeps pulling them together, even as it threatens to drive them right over the edge.

The Hollywood reporter says:

[Mastrosimone] has a knack for composing wildly humorous lines at the same time that he is able to penetrate people’s hearts and dreams.”

Performances of The Woolgatherer are October 27, 2017 through November 12, 2017.  Friday and Saturday performances are at 8 pm and Sunday matinees are at 3 pm.   For tickets please call 222-7720 or visit blueslipper.org.  The historic Blue Slipper Theatre is located at 113 E Callendar St, Livingston, MT.

“…witty, romantic, unsentimental. A beautifully structured play, with nifty surprise endings (most but not all of them happy).” The New York Daily News describes the play as “Sweet, poignant, and witty. Nearly perfect. ALMOST, MAINE’s charm is real. [It] packs wit, earns its laughs and, like love, surprises you.”

The Blue Slipper’s production is directed by Francis Wendt. Wendt has over 20 years of experience in community theatres throughout Montana as an actor, technician, designer, and director. “Almost, Maine” is Wendt’s third production as a director.

The Playwright, John Cariani, is an award-winning American actor. Cariani’s career spans television, stage and film with his most notable role being forensic expert, Julian Beck, in “Law & Order”. “Almost, Maine” is the first of the four plays he has written.
